When I upgraded my KitchenAid Mixer from Classic to the Professional 600, I got as a bonus a free Ice Cream Attachment bowl and yesterday I finally put it to use, Oh Boy, what did I wait so long…
I looked EVERYWHERE for recipes using my attachment and again NO LUCK, so I read a few here and there and decided to make my own… Although this is definitely NOT a fat free or low fat Ice Cream, I only used 7 Ingredients total and it tastes SO DELICIOUS that people are NOT going to believe its homemade!
Here is my Nutella Ice Cream Recipe:
– 1 pint of heavy whipping cream (2 cups)
– 2 tablespoons of sugar
– 1 cup of whole milk
– 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup of Nutella
– Chopped semi sweet chocolate (just use as much as you like)
– Hand full of chopped Hazelnut (optional)
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Make sure your attachment Ice Cream bowl has been in the freezer for at least 16 hours, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. I wash my bowl after each use by hand and leave it in the freezer until next time, so I always have it ready to go 😉
In a medium size bowl add heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract and nutella, whisk it all together until completely blended, you will notice the Nutella gets a little hard to mix completely because it thickens up with the cold heavy cream and milk but just give it some time and it will blend almost completely.
Once all blended, pour this mixture into your Ice Cream Bowl attachment and turn on the mixer on speed 2 and let your AMAZING KitchenAid Mixer do all the work for you for about 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes you will notice your ice cream is ready and has a BEAUTIFUL texture. Turn off your mixer and its time to add the chopped chocolate chunks and the chopped hazelnut. Mix it with a spatula.
Transfer your ice cream to a bowl and close it with a tight lid, to the freezer it goes for at least a couple hours until it thickens up. You can actually eat it straight from the Ice Cream Attachment without freezing it before, but it will have a soft texture to it, DELICIOUS either way!
This Ice Cream Attachment for my KitchenAid Mixer is going to be so much fun this summer. I can let my creativity run far far away with it 😉
